Cola Cast
I heard that cola can remove rust Fromm things like a campfire iron cast iron pie. How it works?
cola What is the best? Coke? Pepsi? Faygo? How long? Should I rub something after? Is this also covered the work that might not be covered ... or small cap on the sink begins to rust? I also heard that using aluminum foil as a scouring pad works. Really? Is it bad for metal? What about iron?
Coke was the first I've heard, but experience showed me that all of the dark colas work. He did a good job of loosening rust so it can be cleaned off. I used on my cast iron cookware - I collect things, and often badly rusted when I get it. I soak the item in bottle for as little as an hour and as long as the night, and found that soaking them overnight is best. When you are finished soaking, empty cola sewers and get to work scrubbing the hell of the question. I had a rusty iron kettle very old I had to repeat the process twice. I really should'a waived the purchase of one, but I could not resist. Anyway Regardless, rub the thing until the rust is gone, then dry thoroughly and if it is an iron utensils, you will have the season as if it were a new piece. Several cookbooks devoted to cast iron kitchen will tell you how. If this is not an element cooking, it still requires protection against rust renewed. A thin layer of oil can do, or you can use a product such as Rust-Oleum. A good place to ask is your local auto parts or hardware store (Ace is the place!) As for the foil - Yes, it will work, but it takes a lot of hard work - much more than if you use the soaking method Cola. Why work so hard when you do not need not?
