Remove accumulation of calcium carbonate in the toilet bowl flushing which limits adequate?
We live in a rural area where water wells is very hard. Try as we might, we get an accumulation of rocks such as calcium carbonate in the rim of the toilet that you can not reach with a brush. Also builds up in tank. Tried magnets and hydrogen in a tank without success. Have chipped away as far as I can reach, but I can not rest. We have a septic system have to be careful what we put in. Any help would be greatly appreciated - alternative seems replacing entire units. Have also installed a system Calclear to avoid the accumulation of other but need to get rid the old rock like deposits. Would-Cola in the tank help?
What ever you do not waste your time with Coca-Cola. The best how to handle this is to go to a real business of janitorial supplies and obtain a strong acid, hydrochloric based emulsion toilet bowl cleaner. Be sure to wear rubber gloves and full protection for the eyes. Shut off water to the tank and toilet flushing. Prop open the rubber flap at the bottom of the tank drained today. Pour about 4 oz vacuum cleaner through the hole valve and add 1 liter of cold water. Let stand for 5 to 10 min. Remove prop and turn water back on the toilet. The toilet flush full. It may take several steps above to remove the old scale. To stop this from happening, you can get a solid block of acid Citric and put it in the toilet tank as your normal blue tablet cleaner. chloride is better than sulfuric, because it produces calcium chloride is very soluble in water and rinses quickly. Small amounts of hydrochloric acid wont hurt your septic system like most of what you put down is alkaline. Why not install a water softener and run out of the softener to another location? You can easily disperse salt produced and not have to worry about your septic system.
