How do you determine the square feet for a parcel that has four unequal sides?

I'm trying to determine the actual size many we have. Length times width is not correct lengths since the four sides of the property are different.

Well information, knowing the lengths of the 4 sides is not sufficient for a 4-sided polygon with sides of a given length may have different shapes. (For example, a rectangle can be deformed into a parallelogram without changing the lengths of the sides). Here's what I think might be the easiest thing to do for you: Measure diagonally lot. Then you divide the lot into two triangles, and you know the lengths sides of each triangle. (The diagonal will be part of each triangle, if you use it twice.) Now you only need the formula for the area of a triangle when you know the lengths of its sides. The formula is: = square root of [(SA) (sb) (sc)] a, b and c are the lengths three sides of the triangle. S is the semiperimeter, which means "half the distance around the triangle, which means half the sum of its parts, thus: s = (a + b + c) / 2 To ensure that you have done right, you may want to measure the two diagonals. The diagonal second divides the lot into two different triangles. You can calculate the area and see if you get the same total as before Good luck!
