A machinist is needed for making a circular metal disk area 1700 cm2. (A) What radius produced such a record? I found the answer to 23.26 cm. (B) If the hoist is permitted a tolerance of error of ± 6 cm 2 in the Disc area, how far from the ideal radius in part (a) shall control the radius machinist? what is the answer to b? thank you!
The area of the circle is A = πr ² Then dA = 2 & pi r dr. Solve for dr. DA = dr / 2 and pi r You know dA = ± 6 and you know r = 23.26, while dr = ± 6 / 2 and pi = 23.26 ± 6 / = 146.15 ± 0.041cm and that is allowable tolerance for the department to obtain the required tolerance in the field of disc
