How do I paint a mailbox in plastic and it is bear watching as the old metal?
The stand of the mailbox is called to resemble a stand of heavy metals and expensive by all the fine webbing. The problem is that he is black plastic and it looks like plastic. How can I paint to look like old metal?
You can use a silver-silver color to paint the mailbox but be sure to first use a primer that is recommended for plastic. After priming and painting, if you want a more rustic look, use the same silver color you painted the mailbox with it and just mix a brown paint and dab this over certain areas with a piece of sponge. For a more rustic look, just add a little red paint to look more weathered. A tip, however, obtain a practice area and try this before painted mailboxes. This technique takes a little practice, but it should give you the desired effect.
