Oval Tub

measuring the distance in a substance disorder?

I need to measure the oval to the end of a tree within bathtub 10m in diameter with a 3-phase substance. It is impossible to use any type of visual, optical or laser technology because the substance is unclear, nor can I use ultrasound as the substance is 3-phase and non-uniform. Last option for me would be to use magnetic, but diameter of 10 m from the bathtub allows this kind of impossible. annyone there any idea how I can measure the oval to the end of the shaft? Oh, the substance is acidic, so the measure will probably be done without contact.

Well, since I do not know what "the oval the end of a tree "means, I could be totally off base here. But I guess that means you have a well, and it ... move in an oval. And you want to know the dimensions of the oval. Here are some ideas. Everything is clear to one wavelength. Your substance could be light in the infrared. If yes, use an infrared laser instead of visible. There are also lasers, microwave (maser), you may think about, although their detection can be a pain. How about Radar? How about an antenna. You can transmit at a certain frequency on the tree and return to two detectors (or more) out of the tub, and use these signals to "triangulate" the location of the transmitter. You could probably do it again with a powerful magnet and a sensitive detector, but you may be right that the 10m, it should be too sensitive detector. Well, I bet that these ideas would be better if I had an idea of what you were trying to measure. And perhaps an idea of what your monetary constraints.
