How to differentiate between baking soda and baking soda?
I'm not even sure they are the same or different things but I will not take the risk. I unpacked the two ingredients of their packaging and repacked them in little containers (for space planning and purpose). But I forgot to label them immediately, and now I do not know who is who. Anyone has a tip on how to test? Without the test by cooking?
They are almost the same, they add accept cornstarch in baking powder. Baking soda is a slightly whiter color than the baking powder and tastes a little saltier. Also in the texture of baking soda is a little on the lighter side, almost sweet, so to speak! For testing, you can put some in a glass and add a few drops of vinegar. Baking soda fizz up as much powder baking.
