How to cover a switch plate with the fabric?
I saw this light switch plate that have fabric on them. now the fabric is stiff and shiny and are also washable non-toxic and fire resistant. they use this kind of fabric over to create these beautiful pieces. someone can tell me how this is done? I have a few myself. thank you in advance for the help a lot of good suggestions here. one thing to add the hardware appears if it was protected by a kind of clear coat washable. you can tell it was something of fabric and was placed on the above so that you can wash it when dirty. when you touch it you can not say it was a piece of fabric.
Size up the switch on the back of the fabric and cut the material a quarter inch larger than the lid. Spray the front of the switch with an adhesive spray - preferably a fabric found in any local fabric store, Wal-Mart or other craft store. Paste the fabric on the lid and turn, apply the adhesive on the back cover and cut ninety degrees notches on the corners of the canvas. Fold the fabric back over the plate and stick to the adhesive. Once everything is dry, cut an X from one corner to the opening of the switch and once again retreat to the back plate with glue. You can not use a thick cloth when you do and you will see the screws holding the cover in place. If you do not want to see the screws, Hot glue the switch on the wall around the switch, being careful not to put glue in the wiring. If you must remove the cover when attached; just lift a spoon under the angle and the front lever. The curvature of the back of the spoon to avoid damaging the wall. Much better than using a screw driver or pry bar.
